The plants in this fall collection were chosen because they take autumn’s cooler temperatures in stride. They will add seasonal color and texture to your outdoor spaces until a hard frost.
The unique autumn palette of our September Sweethearts Fall Collection suggests rose and russet Apples amid frost-kissed leaves. The combo features plants that sprawl and cascade, including the spreading Viola x wittrockiana Cool Wave® Violet Wing and Dichondra argentea ‘Silver Falls’ with its tumbling silver strands. Hovering delicately above them, the semi-double magenta blossoms of fall-blooming Japanese Anemone ‘Curtain Call Deep Rose’ make a striking contrast with the ruffled leaves of hefty Ornamental Cabbage Osaka Red. Soft gray leaves of Stachys byzantina ‘Big Ears,’ almost twice the size of traditional Lamb’s Ears, look marvelous against the nearly black foliage of Heuchera ‘Obsidian.’ We think you’ll fall in love with this delightful collection, which will add beauty to your porch or patio until a hard frost.

Some plants require more space in container gardens than others. To accommodate the 6 plants in this collection, we recommend a container at least 16″ in diameter and 12″ deep.
This collection is shown in our large Foxcroft Planter, which is sold separately. Click to order.
If you choose to overwinter your plants, they will need a little special treatment. Although we can’t guarantee your plants’ successful return next year, here are our best recommendations.
In climates where winter temperatures drop well below freezing, containers should be dismantled in late fall. The Viola, Stachys, Heuchera and Anemone are perennial and they can be planted in the ground. Simply discard the Dichondra and Cabbage, these are annuals and will not survive in areas below 20°F. In mild-winter climates (Zone 8 and warmer), these plants can be left outdoors in containers.
