Product Details
The large, upfacing, clear red blossoms of Lilium ‘Commander in Chief’ blaze even more brilliantly when backlit by the sun, creating a spectacular display with dark blue and purple perennials. This handsome, very hardy variety has a high bud count, rigid stems, and blooms earlier than most Asiatics.
Early-blooming Asiatic Hybrids are a colorful and vigorous group. Colors range from the softest pastels to fiery reds and oranges that practically ignite when the sun hits them. Blooms vary from simple open bowls to exquisitely recurved flowers so delicate you can’t imagine how they can withstand weather. They do, however. They’re as sturdy as young trees with stems that seldom reach above 3′. Because of this, they never need staking. They quickly establish themselves in a sunny, well-drained site and put on a glorious show for years. Superb as cut flowers because of their straight stems and heavy bud count.
