It has been hard to ignore the remarkable enthusiasm of a popular Daylily called ‘Happy Returns.’ In a genus known for vigorous growth and heavy flowering, this descendant of the now ubiquitous H. ‘Stella de Oro’ puts on a show that shames its neighbors. Bloom starts in mid-June, very much the early side of the Daylily season, and persists deep into October. The soft lemon yellow blooms are upright and perky on 18″ stems that seem immune to weather. They float just at the upper edge of the foliage, creating an impression of lushness and abundance that stays fresh even in baking heat.
Daylilies (Hemerocallis) are the plants every gardener dreams of. They offer glorious flowers in every shade except blue, a long season of bloom (though individual flowers last but a day), and a robust disposition that makes them easy to transplant, easy to maintain, quick to multiply, and resistant to pests. They make a carefree and colorful ground cover.
We ship plants that usually bloom the first year. They will outperform lesser grades offered elsewhere. Except as noted, all are dormant varieties, which means their leaves are deciduous.
