Product Details
Cornus stolonifera Arctic Fire® Red is simply one of the best Red Osier Dogwoods to come along. More twiggy than others of its kind, the intensely red stems of Arctic Fire® Red add great color to an otherwise dull winter landscape. You might make this easy-to-grow, compact shrub the centerpiece of an attention-grabbing winter container. Renewal pruning in late winter or early spring (cutting out the oldest stems, which tend to be more brown than red) assures vibrant winter color. A Proven Winners®/Color Choice® variety. ‘Farrow’ PP 18,523
Please note: You may sometimes find Cornus stolonifera also listed under Cornus sericea.
The genus Cornus is a member of the Dogwood family and one that gardeners often look to for ornamental plants. The species are mostly shrubs or small trees that sport opposite leaves and usually produce a showy bract that surrounds the true flower and adds greatly to its effect. For attractive color in winter, look to the stems of C. sanguinea or C. stolonifera.
