Coreopsis rosea Big Bang™ ‘Mercury Rising’ is a hybrid that delivers an abundant show of deep wine-red blooms all summer long. Plants grow quickly and the narrow foliage shows excellent resistance to powdery mildew. During trials, ‘Mercury Rising’ proved hardy through many Zone 5 winters, but be aware that it requires excellent winter drainage. PP 24,689

A genus of Daisy-like plants, Coreopsis is excellent for the border. Most species are native to the southeastern United States and Mexico. They are not the least fussy about soil but require full sun. Cut stems back after the first flush of flowers fade to promote a repeat bloom.
